List of Local Banks

As a Penn student you have the option to choose any bank for your direct deposit relationship. Penn has long-standing relationships with two financial institutions that offer services you may find specifically tailored for your needs – PNC Bank and the Student Federal Credit Union (SFCU). These institutions provide students the option to link their accounts to their PennCards which allows the ID card to be used as an ATM or a debit card.

In addition to these two financial institutions, there are other institutions near campus that you may decide better meet your needs. A list of these institutions is included here.

Note to New Students:

U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents: You can open an account with any of these financial institutions online, prior to your arrival on campus.

International Students: You must be present to open an account and should do so as soon as possible after your arrival on campus.

PNC Bank

Students can link their PennCards to a PNC Bank account, to use as an ATM card as well as for PIN-based point-of-sale transactions. PNC makes banking convenient -- with PNC ATMs on and around campus, including all Wawa locations. PNC also offers a number of accounts and tools customized for students.

You should be aware that, in exchange for the opportunity to promote their programs to the Penn Community, PNC Bank provides Penn with financial contributions that help sustain important student programs and other University initiatives.

The Student Federal Credit Union (SFCU)

As a credit union that serves the Penn community, the SFCU offers convenient access to accounts. Using a linked PennCard or Visa® Check Card, account holders can access 18 ATMs on and around campus as well as nationwide.
